While measuring to provide the estimate, we had a great conversation, and I learned that he was an immigrant from Europe who absolutely loved this country—he had American flags all around. He agreed to go ahead with the job. As I was bringing in my equipment, the customer offered me a pastry. Before I could even respond, I saw the pastry sitting on the counter, and it was amazing. A few hours later, he invited me to have lunch with him. Again, before I could answer, the table was set with a delicious spread of meat and potatoes, salad, and bread. Needless to say, I was more ready for a nap than to finish the job! But I powered through, and the job turned out great
